In an
interview with ISNA, Dr. Gholamreza Imani, Head of the Network Management Group
at the Vice Chancellery for Health of Kermanshah University of Medical
Sciences, stated that the Family Physician Program and the referral
system—recognized as one of the most important strategies of the country’s
health system—are being implemented with the aim of improving public health,
increasing equity in access to health and medical services, organizing the
pathway for receiving care, and reducing unnecessary treatment costs.
He
explained that in the first phase, the program was launched in rural areas and
in cities with a population of fewer than 20,000 people, where health services
have been provided through family physicians in these regions
