Dr. Yadollah Bahrami, Director of Medical Informatics and Scientific Resources at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences (KUMS), has announced the university's notable progress in the Webometrics international ranking system, as reflected in the July 2025 edition.
KUMS has successfully climbed 961 positions, elevating its global ranking from 3009th in January 2025 to 2048th in the most recent report. This advancement represents one of the most substantial improvements recorded among medical universities in the country, solidifying KUMS's status as an institution demonstrating exceptional scientific and technological growth.
This remarkable achievement highlights KUMS as one of the fastest-growing universities nationally, a result of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing scientific infrastructure, strengthening digital capabilities, and promoting international engagement in the university's activities.
In the latest Webometrics assessment, 64 medical universities in the country were evaluated. Among these, only 11 institutions improved their rankings, while 53 experienced declines, and one university maintained its position. The most significant gains were noted for Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, KUMS, and Yazd University of Medical Sciences, all of which have remarkably enhanced their standings on the global stage. Tehran University of Medical Sciences sustained its ranking within the top 500 globally, followed by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in second and third places, respectively.
Dr. Bahrami emphasized that this significant success is a testament to the collective efforts of the faculty, researchers, students, administrators, and staff at KUMS, who are committed to pursuing scientific excellence and sustainable progress. Their focus on improving educational quality, advancing technological infrastructure, expanding international scholarly collaborations, and leveraging local resources has been instrumental in achieving these results.
